Speaker & Client Protection Fund Administrator, Supreme Court of Ohio
Janet Green Marbley is the Administrator of the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection (Fund), where she oversees the operations, policies and procedures of the Fund and manages its fiscal and legal affairs. She prepares and presents claims for reimbursement to the Fund’s Board of Commissioners, and also serves as Secretary to the Board. A significant portion of her responsibilities includes interacting with disciplinary agencies, and educating the public and the legal community about the Fund’s mission and goals.
Ms. Green Marbley is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Illinois. She is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA). She is a past-president of the National Client Protection Organization (NCPO) and past chair of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Client Protection. She is a regular speaker at client protection conferences around the country, and has given presentations on ethical issues related to the representation of law clients.
Ms. Green Marbley currently chairs the Diversity Committee for the ABA’s Center for Professional Responsibility and serves on the Center’s Policy Implementation Committee (PIC). She also represents the Ohio State Bar Association in the ABA House of Delegates, the policy-making body of the Association.
Ms. Green Marbley is very active in her local community and state, where she serves on the Boards of the Miller/Becker Institute for Professional Responsibility at the University Of Akron School Of Law, the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, and the Franklin County Child Development Council, a Head Start agency. She previously served on the Boards of The Legal Aid Society, South Side Settlement House, Buckeye Boys and Girls Ranch, and Gladden Community House. She is the former chair of the Columbus Bar Association’s Women and the Law Committee, and former member of the Board of Editors for the OSBA.
In 2015, Ms. Green Marbley was inducted into the OSBA’s Foundation Fellows. In 2012, she was honored by the African American Law Alumni Association at Capital University Law School for her contributions to and involvement in the Columbus Community. Also in 2012, Ms. Green Marbley was the recipient of the Isaac Hecht Law Client Protection Award. In 2010, she received the Silver Star Award from the Franklin County Child Development Council.
